Cheesy Bean Burgers

Step by Step

Recipe Ingredients
400g can of White Butter beans drained and mashed
100g Mature Cheddar
1 Red onion finely chopped and sautéed in 1 tablespoon oil until cooked through
1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce
Freshly ground black pepper
60g wholemeal breadcrumbs
1 large egg beaten with pinch salt
3 tablespoon plain flour (gluten free bread & flour can be used)
Oil for frying
Recipe Directions
1.Combine the beans, onion, cheese and chilli sauce
2.Season with pepper and divide mixture into 4 portions
3.Shape into a burger and set aside on a plate to chill for 15 mins
4.Place flour, beaten egg and breadcrumbs on 3 individual plates
5.Taking one burger at a time, dust with flour, dip in the egg both sides and roll in the breadcrumbs until evenly coated
6.Heat oil in non-stick pan and fry burgers for approx. 10 mins until golden brown and cooked through
7.Pat with kitchen roll to remove excess oil and serve immediately
8.Delicious in a burger bun with mango chutney
